The balloon is depicted as a floating, weightless entity, lacking a defined form and existing as a drifting image. This symbolizes the uncertainty of the world we perceive and the impossibility of fully capturing a scene within a fixed visual frame.
Through the "Balloon" series, Jinho Kee attempts to bring an unseen perspective onto the canvas. However, no painting can ever be fully complete, and perfect representation is impossible in an absolute sense. This idea resonates with the philosophy of Maurice Merleau-Ponty, who suggests that while the eye allows the soul to perceive objects, it cannot fully capture them. The balloon, existing between form and formlessness, represents both the limitations of perception and the boundaries of art.
Ultimately, Jinho Kee's "Balloon" series serves as a visual experiment in portraying the unreachable. Painting, in this sense, becomes a continuous effort to reveal the unseen. The balloon remains unfixed in shape, existing as an act rather than a static image, emphasizing that art is a process of exploring new possibilities within its inherent incompleteness.
